I wanted to write something
grand – exhilarating –
a sunset over the snow
brushed mountains mighty –
the ocean and seagulls at daybreak.
A verse or two that would
shake the world.
I searched for brilliance
and found his smile
for inspiration
and felt his hand.
I saw my heart
fi lled to have known him
and I knew words were not there.
Words never enough to share
that delightful child
on his birthday – without him.

Joel we remember your beautiful smile and loving heart on this your 21st birthday. Your friends came to visit and we had the best time just sharing your memory and what an impact you had on everyone's lives that you touched. They are very special friends. It's still so hard to believe that you're not here but we know you are in our hearts inspiring us to live better lives for having known you.

Thank you Julie for lighting a candle on my daughter's site. It was very nice of you and very appreciated.

My deepest condolences on the loss of your son Joel. He seem to be  nice guy. I read what you wrote in his legacy and my goodness it was so preciously writen.

Your such an understanding lady and Mom. There is no anger in your words. You understood that your sons behavior wasn't a choice he made it was the addiction making it for him. You don't blame him for his death you understood whatever he did that night was by his confused mind not in the proper state to know or realize possibly what he was taking. Pain is so hard to live with and I can see how someone would think oh just one more pill and it'll help a little more. You should become a speaker on the subject of perscription pain medicine. If you spoke like your words are writen you may make many people listen or at least hear what you have to say. Joel must be so proud of you.

Joel is now out of pain and resting. He's not gone forever for we're promised to have Enternity with our loved ones forever and ever! I hold on to that so much.

I see facets of your personality in people everyday but i've met none who possesses all of them. The gifts you gave to all of us are priceless and will live on in the corner stones of our souls. Watching the slideshow of photo's makes me smile so much each photo gives a glimpse at another side of your dynamic personality which reminds me just how special you are. Coming up to your second anniversary reminds me of just how much can happen in such a short time even though it feels like its been a lifetime without you. I take you with me daily its comforting knowing that I can relive a thousand memories with you in my mind at any time of the day. Hi Joel,

I am in Brisbane on holidays at the moment. Went down to your garden this morning, its so beautiful and peaceful. Such a nice spot to sit and think of all the good times. I look to the heavens and like to think of you flying around having a blast. The tears still fall easily and some memories still hurt. Sometimes it feels as if your comforting me which is such a nice feeling. I like to sit on the grass right next to your fountain and put my hand on your plaque, its the closest i can feel to physically touching you again....

Joely I haven't written to you in so long but that doesn't mean I stop thinking about you. I just want you to know that. It's so hard to know what to say we all miss you everday. Your memorial service seems like so long ago -it was a beautiful day afterwards we spent hours in your room listening to bright eyes & lots of your other records looking through all the photos you'd taken over the years you would have loved it - it felt so right like it was just what you wanted. In Memory of your handsome son Joel. I am so sorry for your loss.
Your Joel is a fine  young man and I hope he has met my angel Brent and become good friends. This is a terrible journey we are on without our precious sons. Sometimes the long lonely days are unbearable but we work our way through them by our wonderful memories we hold so close to our hearts.
